Ah, such flattery! I'm pretty new to the vector stuff too. If you're interested in vector graphics, I'd recommend Inkscape. It's simpler to use than Illustrator (in my opinion), and has some decent tutorials to get you up and running. Plus, it's totally free and runs on Mac, Windows, and popular Linux distributions. The "bezier pen" tool is awesome.
